Austin TripThe Story of Texas

Students from Novice’s Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades traveled to Austin recently, accompanied by Ms. McMillan, Mrs. Rutherford, and Mr. Tapley, as well as several parents. They toured the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum, where they viewed artifacts, exhibits, and videos, from Native Americans to the Space Age. The also enjoyed the Star of Texas in the multi-media Texas Spirit Theatre, and The Story of Texas in the IMAX theatre. After a visit to the gift shop, the group walked up the street to the state capitol building. At the capitol, the students saw legislators going about their business as the class toured the building. Adults and children alike experienced the echo effect of talking while standing on the star in the middle of the rotunda. The day was long, but the students had a good time and learned more about our great state. Mr. Tapley and Ms. McMillan wish to express their appreciation to parents who helped with the bake sales which raised money for the trip.

Nature CenterNature Center Visit

Ms. McMillan and Mrs. Rutherford took the Second Grade class on a field trip to the Nature Center in San Angelo on May 27. They were able to see all different species of insects, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals. They learned about their environment and were able to hold some of the animals. Not only was this trip highly educational, but it was very entertaining and enjoyable.
